Songs of Freedom, Healing, Service

Joy-Filled Way Essentials by Arlin Ewald Nusbaum
Joy-Filled Way Essentials by Arlin Ewald Nusbaum

These songs trace a journey from religious captivity into freedom of conscience, healing, fellowship, fruitful service, and an independent calling in Jesus Christ. They are not arranged merely as separate compositions, but as successive movements along the Joy-Filled Way.

Purpose

The Joy-Filled Way songbook was created to help people hear, remember, and live the truth that JOY belongs to the life of God’s Kingdom. These songs accompany those whose relationship with Jesus has been burdened by fear, religious control, spiritual rank, or the claims of human institutions.

The collection does not call listeners from one controlling system into another. It begins with the JOY of God, distinguishes Jesus from structures that claim to possess Him, makes room for grief and honest questions, and encourages each person to recover the gifts God has placed within them.

The journey moves deliberately from personal freedom to responsible service: recover your JOY, share your JOY, and put your JOY to work for the good of others. Helpers are called to work with people—not rule over their faith. Fellowship remains open, conscience remains free, and every developing ministry belongs to the person whom Jesus calls.

Structures may carry the message. They must never capture it.

1. The Life of His Kingdom

About This Song

This opening song establishes the positive revelation from which the entire journey proceeds: JOY begins in God. It is present in creation, revealed through Jesus Christ, borne as fruit by the Holy Spirit, and offered as the life of God’s Kingdom. The spoken Scriptures form a chain of biblical testimony from creation to the final invitation to enter the JOY of the Lord.

The Life of His Kingdom

Scripture: Job 38:7; Romans 14:17; Psalm 16:11; Luke 15:10; John 10:10; John 15:11; Hebrews 12:2; Isaiah 61:3; Galatians 5:22; 2 Corinthians 3:17; Matthew 25:21.

Lyric

Opening

Before the first light touched the waters,
Before the morning found its voice,
Heaven witnessed God creating—
And all His children sang for JOY.

“When the morning stars sang together,
and all the sons of God shouted for joy.”

Job 38:7

Verse 1

JOY lives in the heart of the Father,
JOY is revealed in the Son;
JOY is the fruit of His Spirit,
The life of the Three-in-One.

Not a prize reserved for heaven,
Not a wage that fear employs;
His Kingdom is righteousness and peace,
And in the Holy Ghost—JOY.

“For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink;
but righteousness, and peace,
and joy in the Holy Ghost.”

Romans 14:17

Chorus

JOY is the life of His Kingdom,
JOY is the river that flows
Out of the heart of the Father,
Through the Son who makes Him known.

More than a moment of gladness,
Deeper than pleasure or noise—
Wherever His Spirit brings freedom,
There is the fullness of JOY.

“In Thy presence is fulness of joy;
at Thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.”

Psalm 16:11

Verse 2

Jesus carried JOY among us,
Though He knew the weight of grief;
He sat beside the shamed and lonely,
Touched the sick and brought relief.

He spoke of feasts and children welcomed,
Shepherds bringing wanderers home;
He opened wide His Father’s household
So the lost need not remain alone.

“There is joy in the presence
of the angels of God
over one sinner that repenteth.”

Luke 15:10

Pre-Chorus

He did not come to make us servants
Of the fear that others use;
He came that life might rise within us—
Life abundant, life renewed.

“I am come that they might have life,
and that they might have it more abundantly.”

John 10:10

Chorus

JOY is the life of His Kingdom,
JOY is the river that flows
Out of the heart of the Father,
Through the Son who makes Him known.

More than a moment of gladness,
Deeper than pleasure or noise—
Wherever His Spirit brings freedom,
There is the fullness of JOY.

“These things have I spoken unto you,
that My joy might remain in you,
and that your joy might be full.”

John 15:11

Verse 3

JOY does not deny the sorrow
Or command the tears to cease;
JOY is God remaining with us,
Bearing fruit in wounded soil.

Christ Himself endured the darkness
For the JOY that lay beyond;
Love was stronger than the suffering,
And the grave could not hold on.

“Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith;
who for the joy that was set before Him
endured the cross.”

Hebrews 12:2

Verse 4

JOY may whisper through the darkness;
JOY may rise with morning light.
JOY may give the strength to follow
One small gleam through longest night.

He gives beauty for the ashes,
Oil of JOY where mourners stand;
And the broken heart discovers
It is never far from His hand.

“To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion,
to give unto them beauty for ashes,
the oil of joy for mourning.”

Isaiah 61:3

Bridge

Receive your JOY—
It begins in God.

Recover your JOY—
Christ has opened the way.

Practice your JOY—
Let it take root within you.

Share your JOY—
Let love become what you make.

Put your JOY to work
For the good of another.
Let your gift become service;
Let the captive discover:

“The fruit of the Spirit is
love, joy, peace.”

Galatians 5:22

“And where the Spirit of the Lord is,
there is liberty.”

2 Corinthians 3:17

Final Chorus

JOY is the life of His Kingdom,
JOY is the river that flows
Out of the heart of the Father,
Through every life that He knows.

Grace is the soil of His garden;
Freedom is where it will grow.
Love is the fruit of His Spirit,
And JOY is the life of it all.

JOY is the life of His Kingdom,
Given through Jesus the Son.
Come to the table He opens—
There is room for everyone.

Final Refrain

Recover your JOY.
Share your JOY.
Let the Kingdom come.

Recover your JOY.
Share your JOY.
Let His life become your own.

“Well done, thou good and faithful servant…
enter thou into the joy of thy Lord.”

Matthew 25:21

Closing

Enter into the JOY of your Lord.

2. No Fullness That Robs Your JOY

About This Song

This opening declaration confronts any religious system that claims to possess the fullness of truth while producing fear, coerced conformity, and spiritual bondage. The song distinguishes the voice of the Good Shepherd from institutional control: Jesus leads His people into life and freedom rather than demanding that conscience be surrendered to human authority. Genuine fullness restores JOY; it does not destroy it.

No Fullness That Robs Your JOY

Scripture: John 10:3–4, 10; 2 Corinthians 3:17; Galatians 5:1; Romans 14:4; 1 Peter 5:2–3.

Lyric

Verse 1

They told you they possessed the door,
The only road, the only light;
That stepping past the walls they built
Would leave you wandering through the night.

They placed their answers in your mouth,
Their fear between your soul and God;
Then called the heaviness “the truth”
And praised you when you wore the load.

Pre-Chorus

But something living deep within you
Still remembered Jesus’ voice—
The Shepherd does not drive His children;
He leads them out, and they rejoice.

Chorus

There is no fullness that robs your JOY,
No saving truth that must destroy
The conscience God placed in your heart,
Or tear His living child apart.

No chain becomes the will of God
Because His sacred name is employed.
If what they call the fullness
Keeps you bound and terrified—
There is no fullness
That robs your JOY.

Verse 2

You learned to doubt your honest questions,
You learned to silence what you knew;
You feared that disagreeing with them
Meant you had turned away from truth.

But Christ was never their possession,
His Spirit never theirs to own;
No earthly structure stands between you
And the One who calls you home.

Pre-Chorus

Let every borrowed fear fall from you;
Let every manufactured weight depart.
The voice of God does not require
The death of conscience in your heart.

Chorus

There is no fullness that robs your JOY,
No saving truth that must destroy
The conscience God placed in your heart,
Or tear His living child apart.

No chain becomes the will of God
Because His sacred name is employed.
If what they call the fullness
Keeps you bound and terrified—
There is no fullness
That robs your JOY.

Bridge

Jesus is not the walls they raised.
Jesus is not the rank they gave.
Jesus is not the fear they used
To keep you silent and afraid.

He binds the broken.
He frees the bound.
He lifts the face pressed to the ground.
And where the Spirit of the Lord is,
Freedom still is found.

Final Chorus

There is a fullness that restores your JOY,
A living truth no hand can void;
It calls your conscience back to life
And leads you from the fear outside.

No gatekeeper can own the Christ,
No institution owns His voice.
The fullness of the life of God
Will make the captive heart rejoice.

There is a fullness—
A holy fullness—
And it will not
Rob your JOY.

Closing

Structures may carry the message…
They must never capture it.

And Jesus cannot be contained
By walls that men have built.

3. Jesus Never Asked for Your Chains

About This Song

This song speaks to the person who has been taught that leaving a controlling religious structure means leaving Jesus. Crossing that boundary can feel like spiritual abandonment, but Christ is not confined within the organization. The first voice encountered outside the walls may be the familiar voice of the Shepherd, who was never the author of the chains.

Jesus Never Asked for Your Chains

Scripture: Matthew 11:28–30; John 8:31–36; John 10:3–5; Galatians 5:1; 1 John 4:18.

Lyric

Verse 1

You stood beside the open door,
Afraid to take one step;
They said that if you walked away,
You’d lose the Savior next.

You thought His voice would fade behind you,
That grace would cease to reach;
As though the hands that built your prison
Held the only key.

Pre-Chorus

But when you crossed the line they drew
And faced the road alone,
The first voice waiting in the silence
Was the One you’d always known.

Chorus

Jesus never asked for your chains.
He never needed fear to make you stay.
He did not purchase your salvation
To place your soul beneath another name.

The Shepherd came to lead you out,
Not teach your heart to love the cage.
You did not leave the Lord behind—
Jesus never asked for your chains.

Verse 2

They taught you loyalty was holiness,
And questions were a stain;
That every doubt concealed rebellion,
And every boundary brought shame.

You tried to make your heart grow smaller,
You learned to disappear;
But Christ did not create your conscience
To be crucified by fear.

Pre-Chorus

And every truth you dared to whisper,
Every honest prayer you prayed,
Became another open window
Where the morning found its way.

Chorus

Jesus never asked for your chains.
He never needed fear to make you stay.
He did not purchase your salvation
To place your soul beneath another name.

The Shepherd came to lead you out,
Not teach your heart to love the cage.
You did not leave the Lord behind—
Jesus never asked for your chains.

Verse 3

Now some you love may not understand;
They may grieve the path you chose.
They may speak as though the Father’s house
Is theirs to guard and close.

But you can bless what still is precious,
You can mourn what was untrue;
You can leave the walls that wounded you
Without abandoning Jesus too.

Bridge

He is not confined
To the room where you were taught.
He is not afraid
Of every question you have brought.

He is not diminished
When an earthly claim is weighed.
Truth has nothing to fear from truth,
And love does not need chains.

Final Chorus

Jesus never asked for your chains.
He never called your terror holy faith.
He did not shed His blood to make you
Fear the ones who speak His name.

The Shepherd walks beyond the walls;
His mercy meets you on the way.
You did not leave the Lord behind—
He was beside you when you came.

Jesus never asked for your chains.
Jesus never asked for your chains.

Closing

The door is open.
The road is long.
But you are not alone.

4. The Garden of the Mind

About This Song

Physical departure from a controlling environment does not immediately silence the fearful voices planted within. This song teaches the patient cultivation of inner freedom: testing thoughts by their fruit, refusing cruelty and bondage, and nourishing truth, mercy, Scripture, prayer, music, gratitude, and faithful friendship. Healing is gardening, not warfare against oneself.

The Garden of the Mind

Scripture: Romans 12:2; Philippians 4:8; 2 Corinthians 10:5; Isaiah 42:3; Galatians 5:22–23.

Lyric

Opening

Not every voice that remains within you
Belongs there.

Verse 1

Long after you have left the walls,
Their warnings may remain;
Old accusations cross the night
Like footsteps in the rain.

A sentence spoken years ago
Can rise as though divine;
But you can test what enters
The garden of your mind.

Pre-Chorus

What bears the fruit of terror?
What grows in truth and grace?
What draws you toward the life of God?
What makes the soul afraid?

Chorus

Tend the garden of the mind;
Choose what you will water.
Some thoughts came as seeds of fear—
They did not come from the Father.

Pull up the lie, but spare the heart;
Let mercy take its time.
Truth will bloom, and JOY will grow
In the garden of the mind.

Verse 2

You need not fight each passing thought
Or treat each doubt as sin;
A cloud may cross the open sky
Without becoming wind.

Sit quietly before the Lord;
Let every voice be weighed.
The Spirit does not bruise the reed
Or crush the soul He made.

Pre-Chorus

Does this thought lead toward freedom?
Does it deepen love and light?
Does it honor honest conscience?
Can it stand before the Christ?

Chorus

Tend the garden of the mind;
Choose what you will water.
Some thoughts came as seeds of fear—
They did not come from the Father.

Pull up the lie, but spare the heart;
Let mercy take its time.
Truth will bloom, and JOY will grow
In the garden of the mind.

Verse 3

Plant Scripture without weapons;
Plant prayer without demand.
Plant music, breath, and gratitude;
Plant work done by your hands.

Plant conversations honest enough
To leave old masks behind.
And welcome every faithful friend
Who brings you back to life.

Bridge

What is true—let it remain.
What is loving—give it rain.
What is cruel—refuse its claim.
What brings bondage—name its name.

What brings peace—prepare it room.
What brings goodness—let it bloom.
What bears JOY in God’s own time—
Welcome to the garden of the mind.

Final Chorus

Tend the garden of the mind;
Choose what you will water.
The smallest seed of living truth
Can show the heart its Father.

You need not force tomorrow’s bloom
Or heal all wounds tonight.
Walk with God, and JOY will grow
In the garden of the mind.

Truth will bloom, and JOY will grow
In the garden of the mind.

Closing

How may my JOY become full today?

5. Oil of JOY

About This Song

JOY is not emotional denial. This lament gives grief, anger, lost years, wounded relationships, and spiritual trauma permission to be named before God. The Comforter does not force a cheerful performance; He remains present until mourning can receive consolation and the wounded voice can sing again. Beauty rises from the ashes without pretending that the fire never happened.

Oil of JOY

Scripture: Isaiah 61:1–3; Psalm 34:18; Psalm 56:8; Romans 12:15; John 14:16–18.

Lyric

Verse 1

You do not have to hide the sorrow
Or paint a smile across the pain;
God is not frightened by your weeping,
And faith does not forbid the rain.

Some losses cannot be explained,
Some wounds need more than words;
But heaven bends toward the broken,
And every quiet cry is heard.

Pre-Chorus

Bring Him the ashes,
Bring Him the years,
Bring Him the questions
You buried beneath the fear.

Chorus

He pours the oil of JOY
Upon the places sorrow found;
Not to deny what you have suffered,
But to keep it from holding you down.

He does not shame the grieving heart
Or hurry healing into noise.
He stays until the mourning
Can receive the oil of JOY.

Verse 2

You may lament the years surrendered,
The gift restrained, the muted song;
The love made conditional upon you
Never saying something might be wrong.

You may grieve the friends who turned away,
The home you thought would always stand;
But grief becomes a sacred passage
When you place it in His hands.

Pre-Chorus

Bring Him the anger,
Bring Him the blame;
Bring Him the part of you
Still startled by His name.

Chorus

He pours the oil of JOY
Upon the places sorrow found;
Not to deny what you have suffered,
But to keep it from holding you down.

He does not shame the grieving heart
Or hurry healing into noise.
He stays until the mourning
Can receive the oil of JOY.

Bridge

Beauty does not erase the ashes;
It rises where the fire has been.
Freedom does not rewrite the story;
It gives the wounded room to live again.

And JOY is not the end of weeping;
JOY is God remaining near—
A flame the darkness could not smother,
A love more faithful than the fear.

Final Chorus

He pours the oil of JOY
Upon the places sorrow found;
He gathers every shattered fragment—
Not one tear is cast aside.

He does not shame the grieving heart
Or force a wounded voice to sing.
He waits until a whisper
Becomes a song of JOY again.

He waits until your mourning
Can receive the oil of JOY.

Closing

You do not have to hide the sorrow.
The Comforter has come.

6. How May My JOY Become Full Today?

About This Song

The Joy-Filled Way becomes practical through one daily question: “How may my JOY become full today?” Fullness may arise through Scripture, prayer, breath, movement, music, gratitude, repentance, courageous truth, useful work, or compassionate attention to another person. The song shifts from “my JOY” to “our JOY,” revealing how personal renewal naturally becomes shared blessing.

How May My JOY Become Full Today

Scripture: Psalm 118:24; John 15:9–11; James 1:5; Psalm 51:17; 1 Thessalonians 5:16–18.

Lyric

Opening

Morning has entered the window.
Mercy has entered with it.

Verse 1

I do not need to solve tomorrow
Before I rise and meet the sun;
Grace has placed this day before me—
One faithful step, then one.

I open up the sacred pages,
I breathe until my heart grows still;
And in the quiet ask the Father,
“What is Your JOY for me to fulfill?”

Chorus

How may my JOY become full today?
What can I cherish, create, or change?
Whom can I strengthen?
What truth can I say?
What burden can love help carry away?

I will not wait for a perfect life
To welcome the gift God has placed in my way.
Father, show me—
How may my JOY become full today?

Verse 2

Perhaps I need to sing more freely,
Or walk beneath the open sky;
Perhaps confess the wrong within me,
Or let an old resentment die.

Perhaps someone is waiting
For a voice that will not judge;
A listening heart, an honest word,
A gentle human touch.

Chorus

How may my JOY become full today?
What can I cherish, create, or change?
Whom can I strengthen?
What truth can I say?
What burden can love help carry away?

I will not wait for a perfect life
To welcome the gift God has placed in my way.
Father, show me—
How may my JOY become full today?

Verse 3

JOY may arrive as laughter;
JOY may come quietly;
JOY may be the strength to face
What I would rather flee.

JOY may be repentance,
A turning toward the light;
Or doing one neglected thing
I know in God is right.

Bridge

Ask—and listen.
Breathe—and pray.
Read—and ponder.
Rise—and make.

Sing through sorrow.
Move through fear.
Give thanks for something
God has placed near.

Receive the morning.
Let mercy lead the way.
The Kingdom is already growing
In the choices of today.

Final Chorus

How may our JOY become full today?
What can we cherish, create, or change?
Whom can we strengthen?
What truth can we say?
What broken thing can love help remake?

We will not wait for a perfect world
To welcome the Kingdom God sends on its way.
Father, show us—
How may our JOY become full today?

Closing

One breath.
One prayer.
One act of love.
One day filled with JOY.

7. Work With Me, Not Over My Faith

About This Song

This duet defines a Helper of JOY through a conversation between the person seeking help and the person offering it. True spiritual companionship listens without ruling, respects conscience and confidentiality, names its limitations, makes appropriate referrals, and never converts vulnerability into dependence. Helpers do not take Jesus’ place; they work with others for their JOY.

Work With Me Not Over My Faith

Scripture: 2 Corinthians 1:24; 1 Peter 5:2–3; Galatians 6:2, 5; Proverbs 11:14; Romans 14:4.

Lyric

Verse 1 — First Voice

Do not tell me what I must believe
Before you hear what I have known.
Do not rush to mend my questions
Or decide where I belong.

I have lived beneath the answers
Other people chose for me;
If you truly want to help me,
Leave my conscience free.

Verse 2 — Second Voice

I will not stand between your spirit
And the God who knows your name.
I will not turn your honest searching
Into something you should shame.

I can listen without ruling;
I can care without control.
I can walk beside your questions
Without possessing your soul.

Chorus — Together

Work with me, not over my faith;
Walk with me, but give me space.
Tell the truth without coercion;
Offer love without a claim.

You were never meant to govern
What belongs to God and me.
Work with me, not over my faith—
And help my heart stay free.

Verse 3 — First Voice

There are days I need an answer;
There are days I need a friend.
There are wounds that need a shepherd,
And some need a professional hand.

Please know where your calling finishes;
Please know what you cannot bear.
Sometimes love becomes most faithful
When it leads to wiser care.

Verse 4 — Second Voice

I will honor every boundary;
I will guard what you confide.
I will never use your weakness
To make you remain beside me.

I will name what I can offer;
I will not pretend to know.
And if help beyond me serves you,
I will bless you as you go.

Chorus — Together

Work with me, not over my faith;
Walk with me, but give me space.
Tell the truth without coercion;
Offer love without a claim.

You were never meant to govern
What belongs to God and me.
Work with me, not over my faith—
And help my heart stay free.

Bridge — Alternating Voices

First Voice:
Do not make me your disciple.

Second Voice:
I will point beyond myself.

First Voice:
Do not sell me my deliverance.

Second Voice:
Grace is not a thing to sell.

First Voice:
Do not measure me by loyalty.

Second Voice:
You are free to disagree.

Together:
We can seek the truth in fellowship
Without surrendering liberty.

Final Chorus

Work with me, not over my faith;
Stand with me in truth and grace.
We can share the road toward Jesus
Without one taking Jesus’ place.

Let compassion guard the wounded;
Let the Spirit make us free.
Work with me, not over my faith—
And I will walk with you in peace.

Closing — Together

Not lords over another’s faith—
Helpers of JOY.

8. What Was Buried Still Can Bloom

About This Song

Religious and social systems sometimes suppress gifts by declaring that a person is unqualified, rebellious, too late, or in the wrong place. This song calls those gifts back into the light. A calling may lie quiet for years without surrendering its claim. Renewal need not begin grandly: help one person, write one page, or open one room.

What Was Buried Still Can Bloom

Scripture: 2 Timothy 1:6–7; Romans 11:29; Matthew 25:14–30; Zechariah 4:10; 1 Corinthians 12:4–7.

Lyric

Verse 1

They may have called your gift rebellion,
Or told you it was not your place;
They may have watched the fire within you
And taught you to mistake it for disgrace.

So you folded up the vision,
Placed the music on a shelf;
And learned to serve what others wanted
While forgetting who you were yourself.

Pre-Chorus

But a calling can lie quiet
Without surrendering its claim;
And the God who placed it in you
Has not forgotten your name.

Chorus

What was buried still can bloom;
What was silenced still can sing.
What was hidden in the darkness
May be waiting for the spring.

No faithful seed is wasted;
No sacred gift is doomed.
The years may change the garden—
But what was buried still can bloom.

Verse 2

Perhaps you carried words for children,
Or healing for a wounded home;
Perhaps you saw a work of mercy
No one else had ever known.

Perhaps your hands were made for building,
Your mind for questions others feared;
Perhaps a song, a book, a gathering
Has waited faithfully for years.

Pre-Chorus

Do not measure God’s intention
By the doors that people closed;
Human hands may stop a season—
They cannot command what grows.

Chorus

What was buried still can bloom;
What was silenced still can sing.
What was hidden in the darkness
May be waiting for the spring.

No faithful seed is wasted;
No sacred gift is doomed.
The years may change the garden—
But what was buried still can bloom.

Verse 3

You need not prove your calling
By becoming someone great;
Begin with what is near you;
You have not begun too late.

Help one person. Write one page.
Open one welcoming room.
The Kingdom often enters softly
Like a seed beginning to move.

Bridge

Uncover the canvas.
Open the book.
Return to the place
You were forbidden to look.

Lift up your voice.
Take up your tools.
Truth never required
The burial of you.

Let faithful action
Answer the gloom—
The life God planted
Is beginning to bloom.

Final Chorus

What was buried now can bloom;
What was silenced now can sing.
What survived beneath the winter
Is awakening in spring.

No faithful seed was wasted;
No sacred gift was doomed.
The years have shaped the garden—
And what was buried now can bloom.

Closing

Help one person.
Write one page.
Open one room.

Begin.

9. Put Your JOY to Work

About This Song

Recovered gifts become fruitful through useful service. This energetic song invites listeners to turn music, scholarship, craft, hospitality, listening, teaching, enterprise, and lived experience into something that genuinely benefits others. Ministry is not spiritual rank; it is love taking practical form. Whether offered freely or for honest compensation, it must remain transparent and never exploit another person’s need.

Put Your JOY to Work

Scripture: 1 Peter 4:10; James 2:17–18; Colossians 3:23–24; Acts 20:35; Matthew 5:14–16.

Lyric

Verse 1

JOY was never meant for hiding,
Like a candle in a room;
It was given breath and motion,
It was made to bear good fruit.

There is something you have carried
That another person needs;
Not a title—just a willing heart,
A gift becoming deed.

Pre-Chorus

Start with what is in your hands.
Start with someone near.
Love becomes a ministry
When love becomes sincere.

Chorus

Put your JOY to work;
Let your love take form.
Build a shelter, write a page,
Help somebody through the storm.

Sing the song, prepare the table,
Make the wounded feel their worth.
Take the gift that God awakened—
Put your JOY to work.

Verse 2

You may teach or make a picture;
You may listen, plant, or mend;
You may study hidden history
And bring truth to light again.

You may gather lonely people;
You may help a family heal;
You may build a useful service
That is honest, fair, and real.

Pre-Chorus

It may freely be an offering;
It may rightly earn its bread.
Only keep the terms transparent,
And never trade on holy dread.

Chorus

Put your JOY to work;
Let your love take form.
Build a shelter, write a page,
Help somebody through the storm.

Sing the song, prepare the table,
Make the wounded feel their worth.
Take the gift that God awakened—
Put your JOY to work.

Verse 3

Do not wait for recognition,
For permission, rank, or fame;
No institution owns the calling
God has written in your name.

Try the smallest faithful version;
Let experience test the plan.
Listen when the people answer;
Change whatever love demands.

Bridge — Call and Response

Lead: Who will your JOY serve?
Voices: Someone real.

Lead: What will your JOY make?
Voices: Something that heals.

Lead: Who will possess it?
Voices: Not control.

Lead: What is the measure?
Voices: The fruit that it grows.

Together:
No selling rank,
No promise of power,
No taking advantage
Of someone’s dark hour.

Let truth be the root,
Let service be first—
Take what God planted
And put it to work.

Final Chorus

Put your JOY to work;
Let the Kingdom take form.
Build a fellowship, write the truth,
Stand beside someone through the storm.

Use your mind, your hands, your story;
Give the hidden gift its birth.
Take the JOY that God restored in you—
Put your JOY to work.

Put your JOY to work.
Put your JOY to work.

Closing

Not for rank.
Not for control.
For the good of another soul.

10. A House With Open Doors

About This Song

A Fellowship Room is envisioned as a hospitable place where people may speak, listen, question, grieve, and seek Jesus without surrendering conscience. Participants may come from different spiritual locations and are not pressured toward one predetermined outcome. The defining safeguard is simple: stay in freedom and leave in freedom. Welcome must never become enclosure.

A House With Open Doors

Scripture: Romans 12:5, 9–13; 1 Corinthians 14:26; Galatians 5:1; Matthew 18:20; James 2:1–4.

Lyric

Verse 1

There is a room where you may enter
Without pretending you are sure;
No one will measure your devotion
Or test if you are pure.

Bring the questions you have carried;
Bring the faith you still adore.
There is a chair beside the window
In a house with open doors.

Chorus

This is a house with open doors,
A table no one owns;
A place to speak, a place to listen,
A place to not be alone.

Come without surrendering
The conscience that is yours.
Stay in freedom, leave in freedom—
This is a house with open doors.

Verse 2

No voice here stands above another;
No title makes a person whole.
No one may turn your private sorrow
Into power over your soul.

What is shared in trust is guarded;
What needs wiser care receives more.
Love knows when to sit beside you
And when to find another door.

Chorus

This is a house with open doors,
A table no one owns;
A place to speak, a place to listen,
A place to not be alone.

Come without surrendering
The conscience that is yours.
Stay in freedom, leave in freedom—
This is a house with open doors.

Verse 3

Some will come from broken churches;
Some still cherish where they pray.
Some are standing at the threshold,
Not yet knowing where they’ll stay.

We will not demand one answer
Or make every journey ours;
We can share the bread of fellowship
Without enclosing what is God’s.

Bridge

Room for the grieving.
Room for the glad.
Room for the questions
No one let you ask.

Room for the seeker.
Room for the sure.
Room for the tired
Who cannot speak anymore.

Truth without pressure.
Care without claim.
Jesus among us—
And no one guarding His name.

Final Chorus

This is a house with open doors,
A table set in grace;
Where strangers may become companions
Without one taking Jesus’ place.

Come without surrendering
The conscience that is yours.
Stay in freedom, leave in freedom—
This is a house with open doors.

A House of JOY,
A Fellowship Room,
A light inside the window
And an open door for you.

Closing

There is a chair beside the window.
You are welcome here.

11. Structures Must Never Capture It

About This Song

This is the constitutional song of the Joy-Filled Way. Courses, certificates, offices, rules, buildings, and organizations may responsibly carry and protect a message, but they can also begin to possess it. Every structure must remain accountable to its purpose: Does it equip, safeguard, and release people, or create rank, fear, dependency, and gatekeepers to Jesus? What serves JOY may stand; what captures the message must fall.

Structures Must Never Capture It

Scripture: Mark 10:42–45; 1 Corinthians 3:11; Colossians 2:20–23; 1 Peter 5:2–3; 2 Corinthians 3:17.

Lyric

Opening

Every house begins as shelter.
Every rule begins with a reason.
But what carries the message
May someday try to own it.

Verse 1

We built a room to serve the people,
We raised a roof against the rain;
We wrote the words to guard the wounded
And gave the honest work a name.

But every wall must face the question;
Every office, rank, and rule:
Does it still release the people,
Or has the servant learned to rule?

Chorus

Structures may carry the message;
They must never capture it.
Hands may hold the lamp of truth;
They must never master it.

Build what love requires today,
But never worship what you built.
Structures may carry the message;
They must never capture it.

Verse 2

A course may deepen understanding;
A certificate may mark what’s learned;
But paper cannot grant a calling,
And recognition must be earned.

No gift can purchase spiritual standing;
No payment brings a soul more near.
No one owns the road to Jesus;
No gatekeeper belongs here.

Chorus

Structures may carry the message;
They must never capture it.
Hands may hold the lamp of truth;
They must never master it.

Build what love requires today,
But never worship what you built.
Structures may carry the message;
They must never capture it.

Verse 3

A leader may become a servant;
A servant may be honored too;
But loyalty must not replace the question:
“Is this loving? Is this true?”

If the structure breeds dependence,
If dissent is treated like a stain,
If it needs the fear of losing Jesus—
Then the walls have risen up again.

Bridge

Can it be questioned?
Can it be changed?
Can conscience speak
Without punishment or shame?

Can people leave it
And still be blessed?
Can truth correct it
When power resists?

Does it equip them?
Does it release?
Does it protect both
The wounded and weak?

If it cannot serve JOY,
Then loosen its grip.
If it captures the message,
Dismantle it.

Final Chorus

Structures may carry the message;
They must never capture it.
Hands may share the living truth;
They must never master it.

Build what love requires today;
Remove what pride has made of it.
Structures may carry the message;
They must never capture it.

Tag — Call and Response

Lead: Does it serve the people?
Voices: Let it stand.

Lead: Does it guard the wounded?
Voices: Let it stand.

Lead: Does it manufacture rank?
Voices: Let it fall.

Lead: Does it stand between the soul and God?
Voices: Let it fall.

Closing

The structure is not the message.
The organization is not the Kingdom.
Jesus remains free.

12. Go Where Jesus Sends You

About This Song

The final song sends people outward rather than gathering them into a new dependency. The Joy-Filled Way does not create a person’s calling or own the ministry that grows from it. It blesses, equips, and releases. The open door remains available for renewed fellowship, but the listener is commissioned to carry restored JOY wherever Jesus directs.

Go Where Jesus Sends You

Scripture: John 20:21; Matthew 10:8; Ephesians 2:10; Acts 13:2–3; Luke 9:49–50.

Lyric

Verse 1

You came here carrying questions,
With a heart made tired by fear;
You wondered if the voice of Jesus
Could still reach you here.

You laid down borrowed burdens;
You learned to breathe and choose.
And something God had planted
Began to rise in you.

Pre-Chorus

Now the door stands open.
There is work that bears your name.
We were never meant to keep you
When the Shepherd calls you away.

Chorus

Go where Jesus sends you;
Take the JOY He has restored.
Carry truth without dominion;
Open every guarded door.

Serve the people placed before you;
Give what only you can give.
We will bless you—we will not possess you.
Go where Jesus sends you. Live.

Verse 2

You may serve within a church house;
You may work beyond its walls.
You may write, create, or gather;
You may answer one small call.

You may stand beside the grieving;
You may build what love requires.
You may awaken buried music
Or help someone find their fire.

Pre-Chorus

Your ministry is not our property;
Your calling is not ours to name.
No recognition we can offer
Could create the holy flame.

Chorus

Go where Jesus sends you;
Take the JOY He has restored.
Carry truth without dominion;
Open every guarded door.

Serve the people placed before you;
Give what only you can give.
We will bless you—we will not possess you.
Go where Jesus sends you. Live.

Verse 3

If someday you need this table,
There will be a waiting chair;
Not to bind you to the household,
But to meet you again in prayer.

Tell us what the road has taught you;
Share the fruit and name the cost.
Then return to where you’re needed—
We will never call you lost.

Bridge

Not into our kingdom—
Into His.
Not to make us greater—
But to give.

Not beneath our banner—
Bear His light.
Not dependent on us—
Walk with Christ.

Take the truth.
Take the freedom.
Take the gift that came alive.
Let your JOY become a ministry;
Let your ministry bring life.

Final Chorus

Go where Jesus sends you;
Take the JOY He has restored.
Carry mercy to the captive;
Bring the lonely to the Lord.

Serve without becoming master;
Love without possessing lives.
We will bless you—we will not possess you.
Go where Jesus sends you. Rise.

Go where Jesus sends you;
Every faithful road is His.
We will bless you—we will not possess you.
Go where Jesus sends you. Live.

Final Refrain

Recover your JOY.
Share your JOY.
Put your JOY to work.

Recover your JOY.
Share your JOY.
Build a Ministry of JOY.

Closing

The door remains open—
But you were born to go.
